Chindi Authors

Although there is a great deal of advice available online the world of the independently

published author is a lonely one. Once a year I would meet others in the same position at

Winchester Writers’ Festival. A few years ago I met Chichester Independent Authors – or

Chindi, for short.

Chindi is a network of independent authors living in and around Chichester in West Sussex.

The group exists for the mutual support of writers with an interest in writing and publishing

their own books; we have seventeen members who have already published and a number of

associate members we are helping to travel the same path. The emphasis of the group is on

marketing and promoting our work – rather than offering each other navel-gazing critiques –

and it’s amazing the things you can achieve together that you wouldn’t be able to even attempt

alone.

We have run successful evening events to meet readers, had stalls at Chichester Christmas

Market and other local events, and to date have raised almost £2,000 for charities, including

best selling novelist Margaret Graham’s Words for the Wounded.
